Recipe for a Full Life

Brenda lived a simple life--she was never famous or wealthy, but she surrounded herself with love, happiness and joy and she uplifted those around her. These are some of the many poems, quotes and soul lifters that she collected over the years. They came from many places and were shared by many people.

One of Brenda's life changing moments came when she was attending college, and took a poetry class from her friend and mentor Don Decker. He taught that we learn poetry because there are moments that are too emotional for our minds and our souls to cope with unassisted--moments of such joy, love, pain or sorrow, that we must express ourselves.

When our own words are too small, we have the perfect words of others to assist us.

Here are some of her favorites.

Every man gives his life for what he believes; every woman gives her life for what she believes.

Sometimes people believe in little or nothing, and yet they give their lives to that little or nothing.  One life is all we have, and we live it as we believe in living it, and then it's gone.

But to surrender what you are and live without belief is more terrible than dying, even more terrible than dying young.

This page is also lovingly dedicated to Brenda's beloved husband Shae, who helped her become the woman she was.                     She knew what a treasure she had.

Vaya con Dios, Amada Mia, I will love you all my life and for all eternity! (final farewell from Shae's Cancer Journal)
